Writing and Editing

I am an NCTJ-trained journalist with over 15 years professional writing experience. My career began as an overseas contributor and feature writer for snow sports magazines like Adrenaline and OnBoard.

I then moved across to trade publishing and worked as a writer and editor for cocktail bar magazines and websites in Australia and the UK. In 2011 I co-founded BarLifeUK.com, which went on to be the UK’s leading bar industry website, and published The Cocktail Competition Handbook, a guide for professional bartenders who enter industry competitions. My work has received three ‘Spirited Awards’ nominations in writing categories. The BarLifeUK website has now closed, but you can read examples of my drinks writing on Substack.

I also write serialised science and speculative fiction stories for a growing readership on Substack. My publication A Flash Of Light Captured currently has 1200 subscribers, and that number grows daily. You can find that publication here.

I undertake freelance writing and editing commissions of any kind, and have specialist knowledge in the fields of hospitality, spirits and cocktails, electronic music production, photography, and visual arts. I am a skilled line editor with the ability to streamline and tighten-up copy while retaining the author’s voice and tone.
